    Garbage in, garbage out

Our properties were split on the corners of four blocks, so we often had to cross streets to get around. On the border of two of our yards were a series of apartments, with more apartments beyond that. We

had a cardboard/paper recycling dumpster outside our warehouse that someone(s) started filling with bags of trash. One or two a week, which I emptied out and threw away. It was annoying and wasn't worth my time doing anything about.

Until the Monday I came in and the recycling dumpster was packed full of garbage. There was something like a dozen or so large contractor type cleanup bags filled. That was it for me. I spent the next hour

pulling the bags out and going through the contents. I found what I was hoping for...personal information. I found a utility bill with a name and address. I was two blocks away, an apartment. I walked down there to check it out.

It was a second floor unit with a deck/balcony in front of the door. Nobody was home, or at least they didn't answer the door when I knocked.

I walked back to work, got a pallet and loaded all of the refilled garbage bags back onto it and shrink wrapped the whole thing for stability. Got on a forklift, grabbed a coworker and we drove down to the

apartment. Up the pallet went to the second floor. We climbed the steps and unloaded all of the bags onto the small landing, effectively blocking someone from getting in or out easily.

Never did hear anything about that from anyone.

address. He sent them a letter from "the city" demanding they clean up their trash and stop dumping it or they would be fined/a ested. He went back a week or two later and the trash was gone.

CafeConCajeta · 7 hr. ago OP mentioned "contractor type cleanup bags", so my thought is that maybe it's the trash from a remodel or a hoarding clean-out or something. A lot of apartments and condos won't

let you put that kind of trash in their dumpsters, and renting one can be expensive, so it's not super uncommon for shady contractors to get creative with their trash handling. Inconvenient to haul, sure, but also dirt cheap compared to doing it the right way

Minflick · 10 hr. ago The last place I worked had a nice dumpster out the back door. We locked the bin overnight because a) we were a vet clinic, so lots of things that didn't need to be 'sorted through' out in there, and b) people put CHAIRS in there one
